This Privacy Policy explains how RentSure, operated by Sweetwater Labs LLC ("we," "us," "our"), collects, uses, and shares your personal information when you visit rentsure.co (the "Service") or opt in with your email.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Authentication Data: Email address, name, and authentication tokens via Clerk
  • Profile Information: First name, last name, and email preferences
  • Account Activity: Login times, account creation date, and last activity

User-Generated Content

  • Saved Listings: Listings you save and any personal notes you add
  • Notification Criteria: Your search preferences, filters, and notification settings
  • Newsletter Preferences: Your day-of-week preferences for newsletter delivery

Payment Information

  • Payment Records: Purchase amounts, duration, and payment status (processed via Stripe)
  • Stripe Customer ID: For managing your payment methods and billing
  • Payment Card Data: Stored securely by Stripe, not on our servers

Technical Data

  • Analytics Data: Via Vercel Analytics, we gather high-level metrics (pages viewed, general geographic region, device/browser type)
  • Cookies & Similar Technologies: Session cookies for authentication and functionality, optional tracking cookies for analytics
  • Usage Data: How you interact with features, notification delivery status, and email engagement

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Account Management: Create and maintain your account, authenticate access, and provide customer support
  • Service Features: Save your listings, manage notification criteria, and deliver personalized alerts
  • Payment Processing: Process payments, manage billing, and track access periods for paid features
  • Communications: Send notification alerts, newsletters, account updates, and service announcements
  • Service Improvement: Analyze usage patterns, feature performance, and user feedback to enhance the Service
  • Legal Compliance: Comply with legal obligations, enforce our Terms, and protect our rights and users' safety

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell or rent personal information. We may share your information with:

  • Service Providers: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting/analytics), Buttondown (newsletters), and Supabase (database) under contract to help us operate the Service
  • Payment Processing: Stripe processes all payment information according to their privacy policy and PCI DSS standards
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to users)

5. Data Retention

  • Account Data: Retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion
  • Saved Listings & Notes: Retained until you delete them or close your account
  • Payment Records: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance purposes
  • Notification History: Retained for 1 year for service improvement and support
  • Newsletter Subscriptions: Retained until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Analytics Data: Aggregated and anonymized; raw event logs purged after 90 days

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data we hold
  • Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing emails or delete notification criteria
  • California Rights (CCPA/CPRA): Request disclosure of data categories, sources, and purposes; demand deletion; opt-out of sale (we don't sell data)
  • EU Rights (GDPR): All above rights plus restriction of processing and objection to processing

7. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. However, no system is completely secure; use caution when transmitting data.

8. International Transfers

Our servers and service providers (Clerk, Stripe, Vercel, Supabase, Buttondown) may be located in the U.S. and other countries. By using the Service, you consent to transfer of your information to these locations, where data protection laws may differ from your jurisdiction. We ensure our service providers maintain appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children; if we learn that we have, we will delete it promptly.

10. Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you and relevant authorities as required by applicable law, typically within 72 hours of discovery.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We'll post changes here with a new "Last updated" date and notify you via email for material changes. Continued use after updates means you accept the changes.
